Westat's Institutional Review Board (IRB) protects the rights and welfare of human subjects in research projects by performing specific functions before and during implementing all research involving human subjects.

Board Membership

Our IRB includes

  • At least one scientific and one nonscientific member
  • One person not affiliated with Westat

Expertise

With sufficient expertise and representation across gender and educational backgrounds, the IRB is well equipped to approve, require modifications, or disapprove any research activity related to human subjects research.
