Senior Project Directors (Job Code: WW/VN/8701) Westat has immediate openings for experienced project directors to join a team of researchers working on contracts with Federal Government clients in the area of military and VA health systems and organizational research. Senior project directors will be responsible for designing and directing large-scale web or paper and pencil surveys of Federal employees, military members, military family members, and veterans. Other responsibilities include analyzing and summarizing statistical and survey data and other relevant administrative data and preparing written reports and briefings of results for technical and nontechnical audiences. new Research Analyst/Associate (Job Code: WW/RS 8811) We are seeking an experienced educator or qualified research associate to work on a project that supports the participation of states and districts in the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). Primary responsibility will be to provide technical assistance and training to education professionals located in state departments of public instruction and district central offices. Duties will include working closely with a project leader and team to support the participation of urban school districts in NAEP; assisting school district staff in the participation of their schools in NAEP; and analyzing and reporting assessment results. Working in or with an urban school district is a prime requirement. Study Manager/Laboratory Specialist (Job Code: WW/RS/8801) We currently have an opening for an individual to manage the day-to-day activities of an ongoing large-scale national survey involving collection, processing, and analysis of biospecimens. Responsibilities include preparing procedural materials; overseeing data collection; working with study collaborators to develop, implement and monitor study protocols; training medical technologists, phlebotomists, and other medical staff; and developing and monitoring a comprehensive quality assurance and control program. Additional responsibilities include assuring compliance with CLIA regulations; working with national, educational, and governmental contract laboratories in defining specimen requirements; assisting data managers in setting up result and QC file structures; and documenting and monitoring study procedures. Call Center Technical Designer (Job Code: WW/BA/8008) We are seeking an experienced call center developer to participate in the design and implementation of inbound call center projects. Position will include call routing/load balancing responsibilities; the preparation of call allocation tables; and routine monitoring of volumes and service metrics across the enterprise. A B.A./B.S. is required. Knowledge and experience in the design and implementation of a large-scale inbound call center; with performance analysis including root cause and trend analysis to determine the actual or predicted effect of certain call center activities and events on performance and/or cost; and in prior work with web-based or remote site staff are essential. Data Managers/ Data Management Assistants (Job Code WW/JS/8289) Data management professionals are needed for a variety of social survey research projects. Qualified applicants should have educational or work experience in at least one of the following areas: (1) data cleaning and editing activities such as running database queries, performing data reviews, resolving discrepancies, and establishing editing rules; (2) specifying data management procedures and system requirements (3) creating and maintaining metadata; (4) defining data dictionaries; (5) testing software including the writing of test plans, test cases, and testing scripts; (6) performing detailed data quality activities and defining QA reporting requirements; and (7) participating in coding. Excellent verbal and written communication as well as organizational, analytical, and multitasking skills are required for this detailed work across project teams. Senior Epidemiologist (Job Code: WW/HS/8404) We are seeking an experienced epidemiologist with strong data analysis and protocol development skills. This position serves as the Director of Analysis for the Coordinating Center (CC) for the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute's Retrovirus Epidemiology Donor Study (REDS) with responsibility for protocol development and data analysis. Responsibilities include managing the work of CC analysts, biostatisticians, and statistical programmers in the development and implementation of analysis plans; performing quality control reviews of analytical outputs; documenting analyses; reviewing reports to verify data; and providing epidemiological design guidance to study investigators. Individual will also serve as a Westat liaison with study site Principal Investigators, funding agency representatives, and protocol teams, and will work with the Principal Investigators in data analysis and manuscript preparation. Expertise in blood safety and availability research and/or transfusion medicine is an asset. A doctoral degree in epidemiology, biostatistics or other relevant health-related area, or an M.D. with an M.P.H. is required; a minimum of 5+ years of post degree experience in the areas of analysis and study design necessary. Biostatisticians (Job Code: WW/HS/8405) Positions will be in Rockville, MD, or Philadelphia, PA. We are seeking biostatisticians to participate with academic and clinical investigators as part of a biostatistical and data management team responsible for the design, implementation, and analysis of multiple clinical trials covering a wide range of medical areas. Responsibilities may include participating in all biostatistical aspects of the design and analysis of clinical trials, such as writing the statistical sections of study protocols and statistical analysis plans; translating data analysis plans into specific, written instructions for programmers; identifying data elements corresponding to requested variables and providing specifications for creating any required composite or derived variables; assuring the analytic file is constructed correctly and that documentation is complete; reviewing output from programmers and other statisticians for accuracy and interpretation; extracting, annotating, reformatting, and summarizing computer output for presentation to investigators; confirming that documentation of computer programs and analyses are complete; and writing abstracts, presentations, reports, and manuscripts. Senior Medical Information Specialist (Job Code: WW/HS/8465) Seeking an individual to serve as a senior technical and subject matter expert in the areas of cancer epidemiology and related research methodologies. Position responsibilities include participating in the design, management, and operation of state and federally funded health-related research projects, as well as the planning and instructional training for various research study teams. Senior Health Researchers (for large NICHD-sponsored children's health study)(Job Code: WW/HS/8407) We have immediate openings for two experienced senior health research professionals who will be part of the development and management team of the Coordinating Center for the groundbreaking National Children's Study. One position will focus on leading a content development team, and the other will focus on all aspects of training for this very large collaborative multisite study with more than 40 academic and/or clinical centers participating nationwide. The ideal candidates will have extensive and varied experience with managing research efforts, collaborative epidemiology studies, community and clinical surveys, and other field data collection. One candidate should be especially qualified for leading the development of the extensive training programs which will be used to train several hundred staff from collaborating field sites on all aspects of data collection, study management, and quality control. This position will support protocol development and training on the National Children’s Study (NCS), a large longitudinal study of children’s health and development. Responsibilities include assisting a team of researchers in identifying and evaluating measures for possible use on the study; developing detailed procedures for assessments; conducting training sessions for data collectors; and developing and implementing quality control procedures. Qualified applicants should have a Ph.D. in psychology or a related field with a child focus, or should be ABD with a concrete plan to finish the degree. Clinical Data Managers (Job Code: WW/HS/8431) Seeking individuals to oversee the implementation and operation of studies in Oracle® Clinical (OC) data management software. Responsibilities include acting as the primary liaison with project and IT staff; supervising data research associates; and supervising and participating in case report form design, database definition, writing data validation checks, performing database queries, and reviewing and resolving data discrepancies. Ideal candidates will have at least 5 years of data management experience in a pharmaceutical or CRO environment, knowledge of regulatory requirements for FDA-regulated clinical trials, and progressively more responsible experience.
