- We are seeking motivated individuals, who are committed to excellence and are experienced in working with primary and secondary school students. Westat will be conducting the 2011 National Assessment of Educational Progress, also known as NAEP or The Nation's Report Card, for the National Center for Education Statistics, which is part of the U.S. Department of Education. The position involves conducting assessment sessions with 4th-, 8th-, and 12th-grade students in participating schools across the country. Each session lasts approximately 90 minutes, and involves about 30 students. You will work on a team but will conduct some sessions alone. This opportunity is ideal for retired educators. Familiarity with medical records and/or medical terminology is required. Familiarity with computers including using multiple computer applications is necessary. We are looking for individuals who are dependable, detail-oriented, respectful of confidential information, and comfortable in a hospital environment. Applicants who can work 25-30 hours between 8:00 A.M. and 8:00 P.M., in two departments, are preferred. This hospital conducts a background check, requires a drug screen, proof of TB & up to date immunizations. These tests make take some time to complete and the start date and training cannot begin until then. The pay rate for this position is $17.00 per hour.

- The Early Childhood Longitudinal Study—Kindergarten Class of 2010-2011 (ECLS-K: 2011) is an important study providing comprehensive data about children's early learning and development, transition into kindergarten and progress through elementary school. We are seeking detail-oriented individuals to conduct in-person child assessments at schools and telephone parent interviews using a Westat-provided laptop computer. Assessors will also follow-up on the collection of consent forms, report regularly to a Team Leader, communicate with project and school staff via e-mail, complete and submit administrative paperwork and transmit child assessment and parent interview data regularly.Candidates :• Must be able to work up to 30-40 hours per week, when work is available from August through December 2010, and March through June, 2011.• Must be able to attend an out of town training from August 13-22, 2010.• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's Degree in Education preferred.• Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English. The Field Assessor will travel to schools and assess student one-on-one and/or in a group setting. Candidates must be available to work from August 30th to November 30th. The Field Assessor should be able to work well with a partner and communicate respectfully with representatives from the school. Qualifications include experience working with students, especially students with disabilities. Mandatory training will be held on September 9th, 2010.
