Westat staff will be sharing their research on open-source visualization toolkits at the 8th International Visualization in Transportation Symposium in Washington, DC, July 27-28, 2017. The event is organized by the Transportation Research Board (TRB).
The theme of this symposium is Visualization in Action. Today’s visualization techniques can reshape the way transportation agencies and companies approach problem solving, make decisions, and communicate with others. The symposium will explore the opportunities and challenges of visualization entering mainstream use in the transportation field while presenting examples of how visualization is transforming the way we work today.
Westat’s Marcelo Simas, Ph.D., Alexander Cates, and Anthony Fucci will present a new National Household Travel Survey (NHTS) open-source visualization toolkit.
Dr. Simas and Rick Huey will show how instrumented vehicle data can be quickly processed and visualized using packages available in R, a statistical open-source platform.
