Employer Policies on Employing People with Disabilities: New Report Released
A new report has been released on the current picture of employer efforts to employ people with disabilities as well as attitudes toward people with disabilities. Westat conducted the research for the Survey of Employer Policies on the Employment of People with Disabilities (PDF). It was sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP). Three issue briefs analyzing the data were also released:
- Implementation of Disability-Inclusive Workplace Policies and Practices by Federal Contractors and Non-Federal Contractors (PDF)
- Implementation and Effectiveness of Disability-Inclusive Workplace Practices and Policies (PDF)
- Employer Practices and Attitudes Toward the Employment of People with Disabilities (PDF)
Westat staff members Joseph Gasper, Martha Palan, and Benjamin Muz co-authored the report.
Overall, the findings indicate that there has been progress in employer efforts to recruit and hire people with disabilities in the last decade. The findings will help ODEP formulate targeted strategies and policies for further increasing employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
