Implications of Kentucky’s Juvenile Justice Reform Efforts: Westat Shares Evaluation Findings at 2020 Meeting

What are best practices for implementing a statewide juvenile justice reforms? What are the potential challenges and unintended consequences? Westat staff will be presenting on these issues at the American Probation and Parole Association’s (APPA’s) 2020 Winter Training Institute held January 5-8, 2020, in New Orleans, Louisiana.

For Kentucky’s Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, Westat, in partnership with APPA, evaluated the state’s juvenile justice reform efforts. At APPA’s meeting, we will be presenting at the session, Kentucky Juvenile Justice Reform Evaluation—Findings and Implications for the Field:

  • Kristi Meadows will share key findings and highlight lessons learned.
  • Kathryn Kulbicki will discuss how geographic information systems (GIS) were used to understand the availability of community-based services through identifying service deserts and youth at risk.
