Insights on Supported Employment: Gary Bond Featured at 2018 Meeting

Gary Bond, Ph.D., a Westat senior research associate, was an invited speaker to discuss Supported Employment and Education at a meeting on July 23-24, 2018, in Rockville, Maryland. The meeting was sponsored by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. 

The goal of the meeting was to help NIMH to develop a priority research agenda for prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery services for people with serious mental illness through expert reviews of recent research followed by discussion.

Dr. Bond discussed near-term research opportunities and longer term initiatives that could result in more effective employment and academic outcomes for people with serious mental illness, including schizophrenia-related disorders. 

The meeting considered research questions and opportunities related to treatment and recovery in serious mental illness.
