Jean Opsomer to Receive 2019 Carver Medal, Institute of Mathematical Statistics

Jean Opsomer, Ph.D., a Westat Vice President and Senior Statistical Fellow, will receive the 2019 Carver Medal of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS). The medal is in recognition of exceptional service to the IMS and is one of the Institute’s highest honors.

The medal will be presented at the Joint Statistical Meetings/IMS Annual Meeting in Denver, Colorado, on Monday, July 29, 2019, at 8:00 pm.

“We are proud of Jean’s exceptional work to promote the theory and applications of statistics and probability,” noted Jeri Mulrow, a Westat Vice President, Senior Statistical Fellow, and Statistics and Evaluation Sciences Staff Director. “This award is well deserved.”

The medal was named after Harry C. Carver, founding Editor of the Annals of Mathematical Statistics and one of the founders of the IMS. Learn more about the Harry C. Carver Medal.
