Nancy Dianis to Receive Distinguished Alumna Award in Nursing
Nancy Dianis, Westat Vice President and Study Area Director of the Clinical Trials Group, is to be honored as the 2018 School of Nursing Distinguished Alumna Award Recipient from the University of Rochester School of Nursing on September 7, 2018. She will also give the 60th Annual Clare Dennison Lecture.
Ms. Dianis’ presentation is titled “Improving Lives through Research.” She will draw on her unique experience and perspective as both a health care adult nurse practitioner and clinical research professional in clinical trials and health care research. Ms. Dianis will discuss:
- The contract research organization’s critical role in supporting clinical research
- Guiding principles of clinical research that ensure participant safety, confidentiality, and collection of credible data
- How nurses’ education and experiences are consistent with the core competencies of clinical researchers
The lecture is named after Clare Dennison who was appointed in 1931 as director of Nursing Service at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York, and is remembered for starting one of the first recovery rooms in the nation.
