Westat Presents on Design Thinking for the International Social Marketing Association
Research shows that parental influence makes a difference in helping teens make good decisions. Hispanic and Latino teens have the highest childbearing rate in the United States, yet cultural norms prevent many parents from openly discussing sexuality and pregnancy prevention with their children.
Using design thinking, Westat developed Momentos (or “Moments”), a text message program for Spanish-speaking parents that provides practical guidance for communicating with their children about sexual health.
On June 27, 2019, Westat will lead a webinar, Finding Momentos: How Design Thinking Led to Better “Sex Talks” for Hispanic Parents and Their Teens, for members of the International Social Marketing Association (iSMA). It will provide a forum to discuss the design thinking process that led to Momentos.
