Westat to Provide Services to Modernize and Enhance Equal Employment Opportunity Surveys

To support the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's (EEOC’s) mission to collect employer data on employee characteristics to assess workplace discrimination, Westat will provide high-quality data collection and consultation to modernize the EEO surveys. This support will enhance EEOC’s ability to use cutting-edge data collection techniques to gather mission-essential data and produce timely, accurate, and unbiased data and reports while minimizing employers’ reporting burden. This 5-year contract is valued at $10 million.

These surveys are high volume, sensitive, establishment-level data collections. EEO-1 is the largest data collection and is conducted annually, with approximately 90,000 businesses that provide data. EEO-3, EEO-4, and EEO-5, which are collected biennially, have fewer respondents with the largest group totaling about 7,100 respondents. These surveys collect data that are similar to EEO-1 but are tailored to different categories of employers such as referral unions, state and local governments, and schools. Westat will harness our data collection and analysis approach that incorporates recent insights regarding effective survey methods and uses the latest survey information technologies.
