What types of studies does Westat do?
Westat conducts a wide range of research studies. Most include surveys or interviews that ask questions about behaviors, attitudes, or opinions related to a specific topic. Browse around the rest of our web site to get an idea of the range of topics our research studies cover.
If I choose to participate, what will I be asked to do?
You would help us make sure the survey questions or other materials we develop for our research studies are easy to understand. We usually need volunteers to participate in an individual interview or a focus group.
Will I get paid for participating?
Most projects provide money or gift cards for participation. The amounts are different depending on the type of project.
If I sign up, what information will you ask?
The information needed from participants varies from study to study. We typically ask for your name, age, gender, race/ethnicity, and level of education. In addition, we may need to ask questions to determine if you are eligible for the study (e.g., are you a smoker?). Finally, we will ask for contact information so that we can follow up with you.
Is my information confidential?
If I sign up, will I automatically be chosen to participate?
Not necessarily. We have a limited number of slots for each research study.
If I sign up, am I required to participate?
No. You always have the choice to not participate. All of our studies are voluntary.
How can I sign up for future studies?
Westat maintains a database of people who would like to participate in future research projects. Sign up for our research participant database.
