The Early Childhood Longitudinal Study, Kindergarten Class of 2023-24 (ECLS-K:2024) will follow a sample of 21,000 children in 1,000 schools from kindergarten through fifth grade, with data collections planned for fall and spring of kindergarten, and spring of first, third, and fifth grade. Data collection includes one-on-one CAPI child assessments, parent web surveys with telephone follow-up, and teacher and school administrator web surveys with hard-copy follow-up. National data collection begins in fall 2023. Advance school contact and transfer school recruitment will occur in the fall of first, third, and fifth grade.
