Blood Pressure Trimmed in Barbershop Study; Westat Supported Research

Results from the Los Angeles Barbershop Blood Pressure Study indicate a significant finding of lowering of blood pressure for participants in the intervention group (i.e., those being treated by a pharmacist). The results were published in the New England Journal of Medicine: A Clustered-Randomized Trial of Blood-Pressure Reduction in Black Barbershops.  Westat screened barbershop customers and conducted follow-up visits for study participants.
