Insecticide Use Data to Be Gathered by Westat

Pyrethrins and pyrethroids are insecticides in more than 3,500 products, many of which are used widely in homes, lawns, and gardens as well as on people and pets.

In response to a Data Call-In request from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Generic Residential Exposure Task Force has selected Westat to conduct a targeted survey of residential insecticide use across the U.S. over a 12-month period.

Westat will administer a screener to determine participant eligibility. Those participants will then elect to complete logs of their insecticide use on the web or by mail. Data gathered as part of this survey will allow the EPA to estimate potential exposure to surveyed insecticide products in residential settings.

Westat previously conducted a pilot survey to evaluate the effectiveness of the survey’s approach, methods, and data collection tools.
