Timothy Mulcahy, Westat Vice President and Practice Director for Social Policy and Economics Research, has been invited by the National Science Foundation (NSF) to a closed meeting to discuss the establishment of a new program: Human Networks and Data Science (HNDS). The virtual meeting takes place on July 27-28, 2020.
HNDS will be part of NSF’s Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences (SBE) Directorate. The program will identify and support projects intended to
- Construct user-friendly, large-scale, next-generation data resources
- Develop analytic techniques to advance fundamental research in SBE domains
Providing his expertise on data science, Mr. Mulcahy has been asked to join about a dozen other experts to provide advice on
- High-priority areas for fundamental research
- Opportunities for collaboration with other sciences, other government partners, philanthropy, industry, and others
- Future needs for investment in relevant data science infrastructure
- Relevant areas of expertise and research communities
