Health disparities and inequities are important indicators of how healthy our communities are. Understanding these issues helps our leaders identify ways to reduce preventable illness, injury, and death.
Westat’s Center on Health Disparities & Health Equity Research engages in transdisciplinary research—both within Westat and with the Center’s resource network of diverse partners—and focuses on evidence-based practices and innovations that have proven helpful in reducing disparities and promoting health equity.
Center studies examine, identify, develop, and test effective strategies and interventions that can be translated into the following:
- Policy solutions
- Culturally relevant & tailored service delivery improvements
- Better population health outcomes
- Value-based financing alternatives
We use research tools and statistical techniques, such as surveys, program evaluations, framework models, and more, to better understand the current status of activities and identify ways to improve health outcomes.
