Overview

Leyla Mohadjer, PhD, is a senior statistician with about 30 years of experience. Her special areas of expertise include sample design, weighting and estimation for complex surveys in national and international settings, quality assurance and quality control procedures, and nonresponse bias analysis. She has conducted research on topics such as the impact of incentives on the quality of data collected in surveys, sampling of rare populations within the context of national surveys, compositing of samples selected from overlapping frames, and small-area estimation.

Mohadjer is a Fellow of the American Statistical Association (ASA) and is an elected Member of the International Statistical Institute. She has served as Scientific Secretary for the International Association of Survey Statisticians, Chair of the Waksberg Award Committee, and Education Officer of the Survey Research Methods Section of the ASA.

In recognition of her contributions to the field, Mohadjer has been named a Westat Senior Statistical Fellow and serves on the Statistical Fellows Committee, which provides consultation on important survey statistics issues and addresses recent advances in applied statistics. She is also an associate research professor in the Joint Program in Survey Methodology at the University of Maryland.
