Improving data quality and data use in education

Congress requires federal agencies to measure their program performance every year. The Government Performance and Results Act (GPRA) specifies the information that agencies must collect and show to Congress.

Through the Data Quality Initiative (DQI), Westat worked with the U.S. Department of Education (ED) to help ensure that its program offices and grantees collect, report, and use the high-quality data needed to meet annual reporting requirements.

Westat also worked with ED program offices to use performance data more effectively in decisionmaking and to develop new measures and indicators of program performance.
