Babette Gutmann

Vice President & Practice Director

Babette Gutmann, who joined Westat in 1990, is the Vice President and Practice Director for Education Studies. Ms. Gutmann’s area provides technical assistance, and conducts research and evaluation on education-related issues and programs at the federal, state, and local levels.

This team provides expertise on education issues at the forefront of improving student achievement: early childhood, STEM, equity, and teacher and principal leadership. The unit also uses a toolkit of innovative approaches to collect data, including randomized control trials, quasi-experimental designs, and mixed methods. Our technical assistance, research, and evaluation studies assist clients with policy decisions and help drive improvements across a wide array of education topics.
