Charles Carusi
Charles Carusi, PhD, is a Vice President for Behavioral Health and Health Policy Practice Area, where he leads the tobacco studies group. Despite considerable gains in reducing the health and economic burdens of tobacco use, it remains the leading cause of preventable death and disease. Carusi focuses on applying research methods and tobacco regulatory science to inform public health policy and practice in regard to tobacco products and their use.
The research spans the areas of tobacco surveillance, epidemiology, tobacco use prevention and cessation, tobacco control program evaluation, biological research, and policy support. This research supports numerous federal, state, and international agencies, foundations, and academic institutions.
