David M. Maklan

Senior Vice President

David M. Maklan, Ph.D., who joined Westat in 1976, is a Senior Vice President. His unit focuses on a broad range of research issues pertaining to health care services delivery and disparities, behavioral health, health care reform, criminal justice, child welfare, and how regulating tobacco products affects behavior and health. Another important focus is on finding ways to help the unit’s federal-, state-, and local-level clients improve their ability to respond to the opioid epidemic.

Clients include the Agency for Healthcare Research & Quality, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the Food and Drug Administration, the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, among others.
