Dean Nafziger, Ph.D., is a Vice President for Education Studies. He leads Westat’s work with leaders of state education agencies, supporting their implementation of program initiatives and reforms. With 40+ years of experience in research, business, and education, he is a recognized national expert in educational assessment and education-related research and development. He has a deep understanding of the research methodologies and analytic skills required for rigorous, high-quality research studies, including randomized controlled trials, quasi-experimental studies, and analyses using large data sets.
Dr. Nafziger has published extensively in professional journals and is frequently invited to speak at conferences and symposia. He has served on the boards of professional and trade associations and has been active in the American Educational Research Association and the National Council for Measurement in Education.
