Howard A. Fishbein, Dr.PH., is an Associate Director for Public Health and Epidemiology. He is a chronic disease epidemiologist specializing in research design, study implementation, data synthesis and analysis, and evaluation of intervention programs. He researches the epidemiology of risk factors associated with the onset of chronic diseases, looking for preventive approaches to improve patient outcomes.
Dr. Fishbein established the first U.S. population-based registry for type 1 diabetes and a national U.S. study on preventing and controlling childhood obesity. He is the principal investigator of a registry of 1.4 million adults, quantifying the risk of developing and the progression of diabetes. Dr. Fishbein also leads research on tobacco regulatory science.
