William D. Frey
William D. Frey, Ph.D., is a Vice President and Study Area Director in Westat’s Health Sector. He manages a unit with broad expertise in health-related research, particularly for agencies within the National Cancer Institute, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The unit’s expertise spans cancer surveillance studies, coordinating centers, and support services for various cancer-related health factors, including diet, nutrition, and tobacco use. The unit also has a major focus on policy and program evaluation studies related to physical and mental health and employment of special populations. Funding for these research studies comes from the Social Security Administration and the U.S. Departments of Agriculture, Labor, and Veterans Affairs.
Dr. Frey and his wife Frances enjoy traveling all around the world. When home, he enjoys woodworking and doing projects with his grandchildren. He also enjoys cycling and is an enthusiastic fan of the Washington Nationals and Michigan State University sports.
