William D. Frey
William D. Frey, Ph.D., is a Vice President and Practice Director for Social Policy and Economics Research. The unit focuses on diverse research issues surrounding programs and policies that affect the well-being of all Americans—children and families, employers and employees, military service members and veterans, and more. One of Dr. Frey’s primary projects is to implement and evaluate a demonstration study on the effects of offering evidence-based services to people with mental illness who have been denied Social Security disability benefits. Other key projects underway involve the economic and social consequences of aging and disability, health economics, taxpayer burden, employee level of engagement and satisfaction, military service members’ health needs, and health practitioners’ attitudes towards drug promotion ads.
Funding for these studies comes from a wide variety of federal and other clients including the Social Security Administration, Internal Revenue Service, Office of Personnel Management, Food and Drug Administration, and the U.S. Departments of Agriculture, Labor, and Veterans Affairs.
