Exposure Analysis

Westat has supported NCI’s Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics, Occupational and Epidemiology Branch for 20 years by providing spatial analysis support in the fight against cancer. We have used GIS data and methodologies to better estimate exposure to potential carcinogens.  Combining multiple spatial layers in a GIS was one way we estimated an exposure to agricultural pesticides and its potential relationship to childhood leukemia.  We have automated several of these analysis using OSS geospatial tools in both R and Python.
