Materials Development

Clear, culturally sensitive, and accessible communication enhances Westat’s work at every stage, from training and data collection materials to the final dissemination of study results. Our writers, editors, translators, graphics designers, video producers, and master formatters collaborate with our subject matter experts and with each other to produce excellent communications deliverables for our clients.

Creative Services

Our in-house graphics and digital media team provides full-service design and production support, including creation of brand identities, logos, videos and motion graphics, reports, infographics, presentations, posters, illustrations, photography, and promotional products. Our designers, videographers, illustrators, photographers, production artists, and printing specialists have been recognized by the Academy of Interactive & Visual Arts, GDUSA, HOW In-House Design Awards, MarCom Awards, National Association of Government Communicators, and the Society for Technical Communication.

Quality Control

Westat’s experienced editors and document production specialists ensure that all project materials are clearly written, beautifully formatted, and meet the highest quality standards.

Language Translation

Westat’s translation team helps develop materials in any language needed for Westat projects (e.g., survey instruments, advanced letters and other outreach materials, study protocols, and informed consents). Our translation staff have degrees in translation or language-related fields and many years of professional experience. All have strong expertise in Spanish translation and Spanish dialect translation. The translators also coordinate and conduct language proficiency assessments of bilingual data collectors, and provide subtitling and voice-over services for video and multimedia production.

Ensuring Equitable Access—Accessibility Services and Testing (508 Compliance)

Westat takes equitable access very seriously, and we understand that accessibility should be considered and planned for in all phases of a project lifecycle. Our dedicated team of accessibility experts with Trusted Tester Certifications stay current with the latest standards and technologies for designing, developing, and testing digital products. This team supports the creation of digital products that meet Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and Priority Levels 1 and 2 of the World Wide Web Consortium’s (W3C’s) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines for web surveys.
