The Engage Every Student Initiative, funded by American Rescue Plan funds, will allow more students to access more programs year-round to support their academic and mental health needs. The U.S. Department of Education announced the initiative on July 14, 2022, during Summer Learning Week. The initiative is part of a public-private partnership of organizations. Westat is supporting this effort through the National Comprehensive Center, which is directed by Westat.
The funding will help state and local communities ensure that every child who wants a spot in a high-quality out-of-school time program has one. The benefit of these kinds of programs, particularly due to the pandemic, has elevated them as key tools in enriching academic programming.
