Westat Advances Public Health Surveillance Through CDC’s VISION Network

November 2, 2026

Westat has been selected by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to continue supporting the Virtual SARS-CoV-2, Influenza, and Other Respiratory Pathogens Network (VISION). Building on its work in previous phases, Westat will apply its expertise in epidemiology, health surveillance, and large-scale healthcare data to evaluate preventive measures and strengthen understanding of the impact of respiratory pathogens.

The VISION network brings together healthcare systems across the country to generate timely evidence that informs public health decision-making. Through its previous work on the project, Westat has developed analytic datasets and contributed to dozens of scientific publications, helping CDC track respiratory disease trends and strengthen disease surveillance nationwide.

“Transforming complex healthcare data into timely, actionable evidence is critical to understanding and responding to respiratory disease,” said Sarah Ball, ScD, Westat Vice President & Lead Scientific/Epidemiology Advisor. “Through VISION, we are helping generate the evidence needed to inform public health decision-making.”
