Westat has been chosen by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to continue supporting the Strengthening Lyme Disease Surveillance and Research Using Electronic Health Records (SubLyme) initiative. Building on its work during the program’s initial phase, Westat will bring expertise in health surveillance, epidemiology, and large-scale health data systems to strengthen understanding of Lyme disease and support public health decision-making.
Led by Westat’s Clinical Research team, the project will use electronic health record (EHR) data from healthcare systems across the United States to monitor Lyme disease incidence, track clinical manifestations, and contribute evidence to inform future prevention and treatment strategies.
“Effective disease surveillance is essential to understanding and responding to public health challenges,” said Steph Battan-Wraith, PhD, project director. “Through SubLyme, we will help generate timely, high-quality evidence that can improve our understanding of Lyme disease and inform prevention and treatment efforts.”
