Westat partnered with the Missouri Foundation for Health to develop the 2025 Missouri SNAP Basics. This publication explains Missouri’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and its impact on the state. In fiscal year 2024, SNAP helped 650,000 Missourian afford groceries each month. The program helped feed 20% of the state’s children. Overall, SNAP reduces the likelihood of food insecurity by about 30%.
Westat partnered with the Missouri Foundation for Health to provide SNAP expertise, research, and consulting, including the development of this publication. “The Missouri SNAP Basics publication provides important information about how this supplemental program works and its impact. The data suggests its highly effective in reducing food insecurity,” said Elizabeth Weber, a Westat Associate Vice President for Social Policy and Economics Research. “After reading the report, one national expert quipped, ‘Every state should have a SNAP Basics.”
