Westat is sponsoring SUD Stigma, Treatment and Recovery for Hispanic/Latinos, a free 3-part virtual learning series alongside the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), which will take place on April 24, May 2, and May 9. This series is designed to help behavioral health providers and community members learn more about substance use disorders (SUDs) in the Hispanic/Latino communities.
The series will cover risk factors related to SUDs, focusing on opioid and fentanyl use. The presenter will also discuss stigma, including the 3 types of stigma and findings from the stigma index produced by Shatterproof. The training provides a knowledge-based approach to early intervention and SUDs identification.
The series is part of the Partnerships for Equity initiative to eliminate behavioral health disparities for Hispanic/Latino communities, which will be presented by the National Hispanic/Latino ATTC, the National Hispanic/Latino MHTTC, and Shatterproof.
