Westat @ APHA 2022

October 26, 2022

We’re looking forward to celebrating a banner year for the American Public Health Association (APHA) at the APHA 2022 Annual Meeting & Expo, being held in Boston, Massachusetts, November 6-9, 2022. The theme is 150 years of Creating the Healthiest Nation: Leading the Path Toward Equity, and the conference offers a unique opportunity for attendees to engage, collaborate, and grow their careers.

Westat public health experts will be speaking on topics ranging from COVID-19 access to care, the nutritional quality of summer meals, and HIV stigma reduction.

Don’t miss our AWS Industry Expert Theater event on Tuesday, November 8 at 1:20 pm (ET). Westat’s Chanza Baytop, MPH, DrPH, an Associate Director in Public Health and Epidemiology, will be joined by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute’s (NHLBI’s) George A. Mensah, MD, FACC, and National Institutes of Health (NIH) Community Engagement Alliance (CEAL) program representatives for Community-Engaged Research: Partnering for a Healthier Future. The presenters will discuss their work to ensure inclusive participation in COVID-19 research and mitigate the impact of the pandemic on communities experiencing health disparities, and looking forward, the plan to focus on maternal and child health, climate impacts on health, primary care, and mental health.

As the Community Engagement Technical Assistance Center (CETAC), part of the NIH CEAL, Westat is proud to support the CEAL special session on November 5, 2022, Engaging Communities and Building Trust: Lessons from the NIH Community Engagement Alliance (CEAL) Against COVID-19 Disparities, featuring Dr. Gary Gibbons, CEAL Co-Chair and Director, NHLBI, and Dr. Eliseo Pérez-Stable, CEAL Co-Chair and Director, National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities, as well as 3 panel discussions.

Come meet us at our Westat booth, #801, and learn about our research in the areas of health equity, HIV, addiction, and more, and chat with our staff about careers in public health research.
