Westat experts will participate in Unlocking the Potential of Quantum Computing: A Symposium for the Quantum-Curious, hosted by The Universities at Shady Grove (USG) on December 3, 2025, at USG’s Rockville, Maryland, campus. Westat is a sponsor of this 1-day event. Registration is free but required.
The symposium will explore how leading-edge researchers are harnessing the transformative power of quantum computing to revolutionize operations and achieve groundbreaking discoveries.
The keynote speaker is Norbert M. Linke, PhD, Associate Professor of Physics, a fellow of the Joint Quantum Institute, and the director of the National Quantum Laboratory (QLab) at the University of Maryland. Linke will present “Using a Quantum Computer to Solve Fundamental Physics Problems.”
Westat staff will also contribute to the program:
- Eric Pan and John Riddles will present “Quantum Approaches to Healthcare Research.”
- Fatih Seleker and Eric Pan will participate in the closing panel discussion, sharing their thoughts on the practical applications of quantum computing technology in the real world.
“The potential uses for quantum computing are nearly endless,” said Seleker, Westat Vice President and symposium planning committee member. “Westat is excited to be part of this event, which will set the stage for the use of quantum by businesses throughout Montgomery County and the state of Maryland, and push our workforce development efforts into a higher gear.”
