Overview

Amber Brown McFadden is a Senior Research Associate for Education and Social Policy with 15 years of experience in public health nutrition research focused on the evaluation of federal food and nutrition programs. A registered dietitian nutritionist, her work centers on dietary assessment methodology, nutrition data systems, and the integration of food and nutrient databases within large-scale, multimodal studies.

McFadden supervises dietary coding; leads and supports nutrition coding, data quality monitoring, and nutrient analysis; and develops, adapts, and links complex dietary databases for specialized research applications. She has served as a nutrient data lead, overseeing nutrient database integration, nutrition coding procedures, and data processing for food logs collected via the Food Logger mobile app. She also applies her technical expertise to the development and enhancement of dietary assessment tools.

In addition to nutrition science expertise, McFadden brings extensive project management and technology experience. She has built and maintained digital systems to support virtual coding centers, project management and training resources, and standardized documentation, and has led training development efforts for field staff, interviewers, dietary coders, and study participants. She has authored and coauthored peer-reviewed publications, technical reports, abstracts, and conference presentations related to dietary data collection, database linkage, and nutrition measurement.
