Overview

Dina Monte is a Principal Research Associate for Clinical Research, registered nurse, and certified clinical research coordinator with 30 years of HIV and clinical trials management experience and 16 years of critical and primary care experience with pediatric and adolescent populations. She is a project manager on the NICHD Prospective Cohort Study of HIV and Zika in Infants and Pregnancy (HIV ZIP), the International Prospective Observational Cohort Study of Zika in Infants and Pregnancy (ZIP) study, and the International Cohort Study of Children Born to Women Infected with Zika Virus During Pregnancy (ZIP 2.0). She previously served as lead protocol specialist on the Adolescent Medicine Trials Network (ATN) and as a clinical research associate for the Pediatric and Maternal HIV Clinical Trials Network Coordinating Center.

Before joining the Westat staff, Monte was the clinical research coordinator at Montefiore Medical Center, a major teaching hospital in the Bronx, New York, where she established the Adolescent AIDS Program as a registered site for the AIDS Clinical Trials Group (ACTG) and the Adolescent Medicine HIV/AIDS Research Network Study (REACH). She coordinated a multidisciplinary team, recruited and screened patients, collected data, developed trial procedures and budgets, prepared regulatory documents, and worked with the institutional review board (IRB), multiple hospital departments, laboratories, and study monitors.
