Overview

Joseph Gasper, PhD, is an Associate Vice President for Education and Social Policy with more than 16 years of research experience spanning 2 primary areas: military and veterans’ health, and employment. His work on military and veterans’ health includes studies of occupational and environmental exposures, the long-term physical and mental health effects of deployment, healthcare access and delivery, the transition from military to civilian life, and veterans’ employment. He has led or supported more than a dozen congressionally mandated studies focused on veterans and currently serves as chair of the American Public Health Association’s Veterans’ Caucus.

In addition to his work with military and veteran populations, Gasper has conducted extensive research on employment-related issues, including disability employment policy, employment law, and workforce development. He brings strong expertise in evaluation methodologies, including randomized controlled trials and quasi-experimental designs.

His peer-reviewed publications appear in the Journal of Drug Issues, Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, BMC Medical Research Methodology, and Journal of the American Medical Association Network Open.

Gasper holds the American Statistical Association’s (ASA’s) accredited professional statistician (PStat®) designation.
