Stacy Gleason has more than 2 decades of experience in research, evaluation, and technical assistance for federal agencies, state agencies, and foundations and other nonprofits. As a strategic leader and director of Westat Insight’s food and nutrition portfolio, she designs and directs mixed-method evaluations, develops resources to support program administrators and implementers, facilitates advisory and other meetings, and effectively communicates results.
Gleason’s work focuses on federal food and nutrition assistance programs, building an evidence base for effective approaches, supporting data-driven policy and program improvement, and lifting the voices of program implementers and recipients. She has deep knowledge of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and SNAP Nutrition Education.
Gleason has directed many projects for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service (FNS). She currently directs the WIC Breastfeeding Policy Inventory II and provides support and quality assurance for the Improving SNAP-Ed Data project and the Center for Nutrition and Policy Promotion’s Workshop on the Applicability of Systems Science Approaches to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
