Joseph A. Hunt
Joseph A. Hunt is Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors. His career at Westat began in 1971 as Vice President of Finance and Accounting. Previously, Mr. Hunt was with the accounting firm presently known as Ernst & Young and was the planning system administrator for American Can Company in New York.
In 1978 he led Westat’s transition to employee ownership by the establishment of an Employee Stock Ownership Plan and its purchase of the company. He then served as President of Westat for 32 years until his retirement in 2011. During this period the company grew into one of the largest survey research organizations in the United States. It built on its exceptional statistical capabilities, its reputation for quality work, and its development into a broad-based professional services and research organization serving many program areas in the U.S. government.
Mr. Hunt has served on the advisory board of the National Philharmonic Orchestra and Hospice Caring, Inc.
