Westat Experts Advance Conversations on AI

Westat experts are participating in and sponsoring the AI Day for Federal Statistics workshop organized by the Committee on National Statistics (CNSTAT), the Federal Committee on Statistical Methodology (FCSM), and the National Institute of Statistical Sciences (NISS).

The workshop, which will take place on April 30, 2026, in Washington, DC, brings together leaders from federal statistical agencies, research organizations, and the private sector. Workshop participants will examine how AI can strengthen the federal statistical system by helping to improve productivity and reproducibility and addressing the country’s growing data needs.

Korkmaz Is Invited Speaker

Westat’s Vice President of Data Science and AI Gizem Korkmaz, PhD, is an invited speaker for the breakout session titled Working Through AI Governance and Implementation. “Westat is excited to be part of this workshop and to contribute to important conversations about how AI tools can create efficiencies,” said Korkmaz. “These tools offer meaningful opportunities to tackle real-world problems, and when used responsibly in policymaking, they can make a positive impact on people’s lives.”
