February 23, 2024

Brad Edwards, a Westat Vice President and Lead Scientific/Methodology Advisor, and Emily Berg, PhD, an Associate Professor at Iowa State University, have been selected as the Editors-in-Chief of the Journal of Survey Statistics and Methodology, a leading peer-reviewed journal publishing research on statistical methodology for sample surveys. Their 4-year term begins on July 1, 2024.

This honor taps into the impressive knowledge base of these research professionals. Edwards brings extensive experience in survey design, methodology, quality improvement, and management of complex national surveys, as well as having published on these topics in JSSAM and other prominent journals. Berg has broad expertise in survey statistics theory and application evidenced by her lead authorship of 5 published articles in the JSSAM flagship journal. They plan on making diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) their guiding core value in this new role.

“I am very honored by this appointment,” notes Edwards, “and will do my best to uphold a commitment to the highest methods standards set by 2 previous JSSAM Editors-in-Chief from Westat, Ting Yan and Roger Tourangeau.”

JSSAM is sponsored by the American Association of Public Opinion Research (AAPOR) and the American Statistical Association (ASA).
