New Westat Evaluations Focused on English Learners, Math Instruction in Low-Performing Schools
November 16, 2021
Westat is leading one new evaluation and supporting another to understand the impacts of education programs for the National Center for Education Evaluation (NCEE) at the U.S. Department of Education (ED).
Evaluating Policies, Programs, and Strategies to Support English Learners. Westat is leading a new study for NCEE to inform policy decisions about reclassification of English learners. The study focuses on whether students who reclassify out of English learner status go on to experience different outcomes than similar students who remain English learners. It also seeks to understand the student characteristics and policy environments that are associated with positive, negative, or neutral effects of reclassification.
Evaluating Programs and Strategies to Accelerate School Improvement. Westat will support MDRC in evaluating innovative education technology products to supplement math instruction in low-performing schools.
