Minsun Riddles, PhD, a Westat Principal Statistical Associate for Statistics and Data Science, will be presenting at the Statistical Society of Canada (SSC) annual meeting on June 1, 2026. The event will take place at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario.
At the Advances in Data Privacy session, Riddles will be presenting “AI-Driven Synthetic Data Generation for Complex Data.” This presentation highlights the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools to enhance synthetic data generation, preserving the structure and analytical utility of original datasets while safeguarding sensitive information. It will also discuss frameworks for evaluating how accurately synthetic data reproduce key statistical properties, as well as approaches for quantifying the additional variability introduced through the synthesis process.
“These advances support more responsible data sharing and collaboration, expanding access to high-quality data, and enabling new opportunities for research and innovation,” notes Riddles.
Additional presenters include:
- Michael Brewster Hawes, U.S. Census Bureau, who will present “Promoting ‘Gold Standard Science’ in Privacy and Confidentiality Research”
- Yajuan Si, University of Michigan, who will present “Fully Synthetic Data for Complex Surveys”
