For the past decade, Westat’s Shawn Petty, MPA, has hosted the engaging virtual series “Perspectives from the Field,” conceived as a platform to share diverse education insights. Sponsored by the Charles S. Mott Foundation and produced by Foundations, Inc., the series covers groundbreaking topics in modern education.

As host, Petty coordinates impactful virtual panels and interviews multiple times per year, plus an annual live show. His innovative approach spotlights critical themes like artificial intelligence (AI) integration and pedagogical strategies.
On Wednesday, November 1st, Petty will special guest host the first episode of this year’s “Perspectives from the Field: AI Edition” focused on artificial intelligence in afterschool programs. The webinar will offer insights into AI’s transformative potential, real-world success stories, and possibilities for revolutionizing education. It will serve as a preview for the upcoming live workshop “AI and Afterschool: A Perfect Match,” to be held at the Beyond School Hours Conference on February 14-17, 2024. Educators, coordinators, and AI enthusiasts can tune in to kickstart dynamic conversations on AI’s emerging role.
