Westat Appoints Sunitha Mathew as Chief Growth Officer

May 4, 2026

Westat announces the promotion of Sunitha Mathew, MS, to Chief Growth Officer, effective May 4.

In this role, Sunitha will be responsible for shaping and executing Westat’s enterprise-wide growth strategy. She will partner closely with leaders across the company’s health, education, and social policy portfolios, while overseeing business development, marketing, and communications to advance sustained impact and innovation.

Sunitha, a Vice President, previously served as the Practice Director for Clinical Research, where she led a large, varied portfolio of complex research initiatives, including clinical trials networks, epidemiological studies, clinical infrastructure, biomedical informatics, and data coordination projects. Over more than two decades at Westat, she has demonstrated a strong ability to align scientific excellence with client needs, delivering high-quality, mission-driven solutions across federal and commercial sectors.

Known for her collaborative leadership style and strategic mindset, Sunitha has played a pivotal role in advancing major health research efforts and strengthening cross-organizational partnerships that support Westat’s long-term growth.

“Sunitha combines strategic vision with a deep understanding of our mission and clients,” said Scott Royal, PhD, Westat President and CEO. “Her leadership will be instrumental as we continue to expand our ability to make an impact and drive sustainable growth across the company.”

Sunitha succeeds Janet Rosenbaum, MA, who is retiring after many years of dedicated service and whose leadership made transformative contributions to Westat’s culture, capabilities, and growth.
