Westat to Continue Supporting Education Systems Improvement Across Appalachia

October 30, 2026

Westat will continue leading the Appalachia Comprehensive Center (Appalachia CC), part of the Comprehensive Center Network (CCNetwork), an initiative of the U.S. Department of Education (ED). Appalachia CC partners with educators and policymakers to strengthen education systems, improve the use of data and evidence in decision-making, and build organizational capacity to drive lasting improvements in student outcomes.

Westat will provide technical assistance, evidence-based resources, and implementation support to state, regional, local, and Tribal educational agencies in Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. Appalachia CC helps education leaders address local priorities, translate research into practice, and implement strategies that improve outcomes for students.

“This work reflects Westat’s deep expertise in technical assistance, capacity building, and continuous improvement strategies,” said Brad Keller, PhD, a Westat Principal Research Associate. “By helping educational agencies put research and data into action, we can support meaningful, sustainable improvements that benefit students and communities.”
