Gary Silverstein is an Associate Vice President for Education Studies. His evaluation work focuses on studying efforts to broaden participation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in both formal and informal venues. His research also involves assessing the implementation and impact of efforts to expand the internet and related technologies to underserved populations.
Silverstein provides technical assistance for NSF in such areas as identifying performance indicators and designing online performance monitoring systems. Taken together, his work is designed to enhance the capacity of policymakers and practitioners to assess their efforts to increase diversity, equity, and inclusion in STEM.
