Improving the surveillance of HIV in Senegal
To better prevent and control the spread of HIV, the West African country of Senegal is working to establish a high-quality, country-wide HIV surveillance system.
Like other countries in the region, it is looking for ways to
- Provide ongoing collection and analysis of data on the prevalence of HIV
- Make HIV surveillance activities more cost-effective and sustainable
- Maintain the quality of its surveillance methods and data
- Ensure that its surveillance methods are culturally sensitive and appropriate for Senegal
Westat is supporting the work of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Senegal’s Ministry of Health, Cheikh Anta Diop University, and the National AIDS Control Program.
