Summer programs can offer key mental health and well-being supports to students in addition to providing opportunities for academic enrichment. To date, what have we learned about current state initiatives that are leveraging summer months to improve student outcomes? To explore this issue, Allison Crean Davis, PhD, a Westat Vice President of Education Studies, will join other stakeholders at the upcoming Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) Annual Policy Forum, to be held November 2-4, 2022, in Austin, Texas.
On Thursday, November 3, 2022, 10:45 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (CDT) Dr. Crean Davis will be joined by Kathleen Airhart, CCSSO Senior Advisor, Summer Learning; Aaron Dworkin, CEO, National Summer Learning Association (NSLA); and representatives from states in the State Summer Learning Network (SSLN). This session will provide a broad overview of state summer learning initiatives through research efforts and national trends as well as a closer look through the lens of states in the SSLN.
