Connecting Researchers Via AERA 2026 SIG Meeting

At the 2026 American Educational Research Association (AERA) Annual Conference, taking place April 8–12, 2026, in Los Angeles, California, the Large-Scale Assessment Special Interest Group (SIG) business meeting will offer valuable opportunities for attendees to connect with colleagues working in large-scale assessment and education research. The meeting is in person and open to all AERA members attending the conference.

Location: InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown, 5th Floor, Echo Park

This session invites members to engage with peers focused on advancing education research, policy, and practice through large-scale survey and assessment data. The program will feature an expert panel, Getting Started With Large-Scale Assessment Data: Pathways for Emerging Researchers, providing practical guidance on navigating large-scale datasets, building analytical skills, making sound methodological decisions, and translating findings.

Judy Tang, a Westat Senior Research Associate for Survey Management and Design, serves as program chair of the Large-Scale Assessment SIG and will moderate the panel discussion.

  • Eugenio González, Senior Research Director, TIMSS & PIRLS International Study Center, Boston College
  • Qiwei He, Provost’s Distinguished Associate Professor and Director of the AI-Measurement and Data Science Lab, Georgetown University
  • Marisol J. Kevelson, Associate Research Scientist, Educational Testing Service Research Institute Policy Center
